you are supporting…
ROCKPORT’S ECONOMIC STABILITY
By preserving the Long Beach community, the annual ~$3M million in land lease fees and real estate taxes paid by Long Beach homeowners will continue to promote the town’s vitality.
Currently, Long Beach homeowners financially support the equivalent of ~15% of the town’s educational budget; thus, encouraging academic excellence and extra-curricular participation for both staff members and students.
If Long Beach homeowners lose their cottages, each Rockport taxpayer would have an increase to their annual taxes to cover this deficit and maintain the Town of Rockport.
A LASTING COMMUNITY LEGACY
Long Beach is a living tapestry woven with the threads of our town’s history.
Hear the stories of many families who have generations of memories on this beach - you’ll notice our collective identity is intertwined with Long Beach, and by uniting to preserve its essence, we protect the soul of our community.
We are not looking to change anything about the character of this public beach, we are simply here to preserve the rich history that exists on these shores.
AN ENVIRONMENTAL SANCTUARY
Long Beach is a sanctuary for both nature and people. This is about preserving natural ecosystems as well as protecting our beloved community.
The seawall plays a critical role in safeguarding ~30 acres of dune, tidal salt marsh and Saratoga Creek, which is essential for nurturing marine life, plant life and wildlife. It also shelters our seasonal cottages, which is fundamental for family and social gatherings.
By supporting the efforts to sustain this land, you contribute to the longevity of this beautiful coastal haven.
IN THE NEWS
Long Beach has experienced damage to the seawall given its age over the past few years: this example is from 2018 damage, which has since undergone an emergency repair by the town.
